Joseph James ASLA

Associate Principal

Joe James is an Associate Principal at Reed Hilderbrand and leads in-house professional development series. He earned a Master of Landscape Architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design and holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Michigan State University. Over a long tenure with Reed Hilderbrand, Joe has managed the development of such open spaces as downtown Baton Rouge’s Repentance Park, City Hall Plaza, and River Road, and the renovation of the Blue Garden in Newport, Rhode Island. He has managed collaborative projects within Houston’s Buffalo Bayou Park with SWA, and the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center, with Design Workshop. He is currently leading the Theodore Roosevelt Park re-design at the American Museum of Natural History with Studio Gang Architects. Joe is an adjunct professor in the Rhode Island School of Design’s landscape architecture program.
