Yini Chen

Yini grew up in Xiamen, China, a coastal city known for its lush evergreen landscape — a setting that first sparked her curiosity about the natural world. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Fudan University in 2014 before pivoting to landscape architecture, completing her master’s at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. With a foundation in biological science, Yini brings a thoughtful, analytical lens to landscape design, always exploring the ecological and cultural dynamics that shape a site. She joined Reed Hilderbrand in 2024 with experience spanning public spaces and private residences, having contributed to projects at Richard Burck Associates and Moody Graham Landscape Architecture in Washington, D.C.
In her spare time, Yini finds rhythm in cooking, boxing, and running — often along the Minuteman Trail during New England’s colder months. She also enjoys traveling to explore landscapes both familiar and new.
