Yuqing Wu

Designer

Originally from Anhui Province in mainland China, Yuqing earned her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture at Beijing University of Civil Engineering and completed a Master of Architecture at Yale University in July 2024. Early teaching experience in building projects influenced her decision to pursue landscape architecture, where she could explore the interplay between built form and public life.

Yuqing’s formative experiences include watching the river in front of her childhood home transform from an undeveloped corridor into a vibrant park and riverwalk. Observing how the landscape shaped neighborhood life sparked her interest in how design can influence how people inhabit and experience space. Her professional work spans cultural and residential projects, including contributions to the Hirshhorn Museum, where she applies a hand-sketching driven, observational approach. She emphasizes the importance of being on site, engaging directly with clients, and experiencing space in person, understanding that the most critical design decisions often emerge in the field.

Outside of work, Yuqing enjoys jewelry making, recently started playing squash, and continues to nurture her curiosity through hands-on observation and creative exploration.
