Wainscott

East Hampton, New York

Just three houses from the beach on the southern edge of Long Island, this two-acre site overlooking Wainscott Pond has been transformed from a former potato field to a contemporary parterre for active living. Designed for a growing and active family, the plan situates the building program near the property edges to develop open land at the center of the site for outdoor living. The site references the agricultural heritage of Long Island to unite the buildings and landscape into a cohesive scheme.

A pool is situated in a lawn panel perpendicular to the house, a mirror for the sky, residence, and landscape beyond.
