Chris Moyles

Principal

FASLA

Chris Moyles (1962-2018) was a Principal and Partner of Reed Hilderbrand. A passionate designer, Chris strove for conceptual clarity in shaping expressive landscapes through collaboration with owners, institutions, and the public. He served as the design lead for many of the firm’s most acclaimed commissions across all scales and project types, from the Poetry Foundation Headquarters to Long Dock Park to the large-scale master planning and urban development in Boston’s Seaport District.

Since joining Reed Hilderbrand in 2000, Chris emerged as a leading advocate within the discipline for the advancement of sustainable design practices and landscape performance. He lead the campus master plan for Vanderbilt University, the implementation of The Contemporary Austin’s Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park, and was principal-in-charge for the Innovation/Wellness District development in downtown Tampa, Florida. Chris received a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus in Ecology from Virginia Commonwealth University. He taught at Boston Architectural College and the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University and was a frequent guest critic at design schools across the United States. Chris served on the Executive Committee of the Boston Society of Landscape Architects.
